Military Families Say: "Don't fund the Killing!"

Many Congress members claim to fund the continued occupation of Iraq in order to "Support the Troops". This claim cannot be supported by facts. It adds insult to injury by placing the entire Congressional burden on our soldiers. Congress has been AWOL on the issues of declaring war and of funding, both of which are clearly their responsibility under our Constitution. The Iraq Study Group report revealed that adequate funding for Iraqi troops was never budgeted, ensuring failure of the promise, "as Iraqis stand up, we will stand down". This is an unconscionable betrayal of our troops, ensuring that many would die and suffer terrible injuries. The facts also show is that the war profiteers have been the winners here. (see Who dies, Who Profits- (link to be here to an article/chart on that). Many more billions are missing. Recent Congressional hearings exposed plane loads of cash being flown to Iraq. No record exists of where this went. The vast majority of troops want to get out of Iraq. They are demoralized, not by war protesters, but by the facts on the ground. The US military cannot resolve a civil war, nor be a substitute for political solutions and diplomacy. Their presence is only inflaming the complicated problems there. See the Gen. Odom article(link). In addition, The vast majority of Sunnis and Shiites want Americans out of their country.
